June 20 (UPI) — Tom Cruise and Hayley Atwell graced the red carpet on Monday, marking their presence at the Rome premiere of their highly-anticipated movie Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One, held at the iconic Spanish Steps.
Cruise exuded joy as he posed for photographs, donning a dashing blue three-piece suit. Atwell, on the other hand, looked stunning in a black gown paired with an exquisite diamond necklace.
Joining them were director Christopher McQuarrie, as well as cast members Esai Morales, Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, Vanessa Kirby, Henry Czerny, and Pom Klementieff.
During their speeches, McQuarrie and Cruise expressed their gratitude to “the people of Rome” and the local authorities in Rome and Venice for their cooperation in filming amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Everyone is aware of the extraordinary circumstances under which we shot this film and the situations prevailing worldwide,” said Cruise, according to Deadline. “Had it not been for the entire community’s support, from the locals to the government and medical staff, ensuring our safety and enabling us to create what we are presenting here tonight—this would not have been possible.”
The Hollywood superstar added that the premiere aimed to demonstrate not only the resilience of the film industry but also the ability to bring audiences back to theaters after the challenging times faced globally.
“It was crucial for us to showcase that the pandemic couldn’t put an end to cinema,” he emphasized. “I am deeply grateful to everyone involved in this endeavor. With stringent safety protocols and the assistance of this country, together we have achieved something extraordinary.”
The upcoming movie, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One, is the seventh installment in the successful Mission: Impossible franchise. It follows Cruise’s iconic character, Ethan Hunt, an agent for the fictional Impossible Missions Force (IMF), as he embarks on his most perilous mission yet.
Paramount Pictures released a trailer for the film in May, building anticipation among fans. Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One is scheduled to hit theaters on July 12.
