“We didn’t really worry about doing anything wrong or making mistakes,” Lawrence said. “We just went and played.”
The Jacksonville Jaguars (2-2) bounced back with a win after consecutive losses to the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs and the Houston Texans in Weeks 2 and 3. Meanwhile, the Atlanta Falcons (2-2) suffered their second straight defeat.
Jaguars wide receiver Christian Kirk described the victory as “huge.”
“Winning in this league is tough,” Kirk acknowledged. “Especially when you’re on a losing streak, it becomes even harder. Back-to-back losses can weigh heavily on you, both individually and as a team. That’s why we put together a performance like we did today and managed to secure the win.”
“You can never take winning in the NFL for granted. It’s a great feeling to get back on track and restore our confidence,” Lawrence added.
Trevor Lawrence had a solid game, completing 23 of 30 passes for 207 yards and one touchdown, with no interceptions. His 30-yard touchdown pass to Ridley gave the Jaguars a seven-point lead and marked their first lead of seven or more points since their Week 1 victory over the Indianapolis Colts.
Ridley, who was traded to the Jaguars from the Falcons last November, faced his former team for the first time. He made an impact, catching two passes for 38 yards.
Kirk had an impressive game, hauling in eight passes for 84 yards.
Falcons quarterback Desmond Ridder completed 19 of 31 passes for 191 yards and one touchdown, but he also threw two interceptions. Rookie running back Dijon Robinson had a strong performance, rushing for 105 yards on 14 carries.
The Jaguars’ defense came up big with three sacks, bringing their season total to eight. Outside linebacker Travon Walker recorded one sack in the first quarter, while Josh Allen contributed two of his three sacks in the first half. Safety Andre Cisco also had an interception, and defensive lineman Angelo Blackson recovered Allen’s late sack/fumble to seal the victory.
Next, the Jaguars will travel to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to face the Buffalo Bills on Sunday.
