The Bears Defense Limits First Downs in the Second Half
After allowing the Vikings to score on three possessions in the first half, the Bears’ defense stepped up and shut down Minnesota’s offense in the final 30 minutes. In addition to holding the Vikings to just two first downs, the Bears limited them to only 58 yards of offense in the second half.
Minnesota’s only score in the second half came from a defensive play in the third quarter.
53-Yard Field Goal by Kicker Cairo Santos
The veteran kicker, Cairo Santos, achieved his longest field goal of the season in the second quarter. Over the past two years, Santos has successfully made 6 out of 7 field goal attempts from 50 yards or more.
Santos’ 53-yard field goal is his longest since October 18, 2020, when he made a career-high 55-yard field goal for the Bears.
First Career Touchdown for Backup Quarterback Tyson Bagent
Tyson Bagent, who took over for Fields in the third quarter, completed his first NFL touchdown drive with a 1-yard rush into the end zone. The touchdown brought the Bears within a score of 19-13 with less than eight minutes remaining in the game.
Bagent led the Bears down the field with consecutive passes to wide receiver DJ Moore for gains of 18 and 24 yards. The undrafted rookie also connected with tight end Robert Tonyan for an 11-yard completion during the drive.
