The Hidden Knowledge of Private Investigators

  • Insider interviewed four private investigators who dedicated years to the Rudy Farias missing persons case.
  • All four investigators expressed doubts about the fundraising efforts of the mother and questioned if Farias was truly missing.
  • According to the investigators, two leads related to “Mexican trafficking” turned out to be completely false.

Four private investigators involved in the search for Rudy Farias, a Texas teenager reported missing in 2015, have expressed skepticism about his recent reappearance, which has turned into a troubling situation rather than a miracle. According to Brenda Paradise, one of the investigators quoted in early stories about Farias’ disappearance, “Something doesn’t add up.” She further described the case as “dark and dirty.”

During a press conference held by activist Quanell X, allegations were made that Farias was never missing, but instead suffered years of abuse from his mother. However, Houston police have not confirmed these claims and are currently investigating the matter. The private investigators also had their doubts about Farias’ mother, Janie Santana, throughout the years. These doubts were intensified when a family representative announced Farias’ reappearance in a Facebook group, which was met with skepticism and conspiracy theories.

Neighbors have reported seeing Farias in the neighborhood for years, contradicting the narrative of his disappearance. Brenda Paradise, who worked on the case since 2015, has always felt that something was off. Suspicion grew when the family provided incorrect information about Farias, including his date of birth, and when belongings found at the disappearance scene were falsely claimed to be his. Paradise also questioned the authenticity of hospital photos shared by the family.

Though Paradise hopes that Farias is truly found and receiving help, she admits to not fully trusting the family. Ryan Greyson, another private investigator involved in the case, recounts a lead related to Mexican trafficking that Santana fundraised for but appeared disinterested and distant during the event. Greyson reached out to the supposed trafficker and discovered that Santana had in fact contacted her. Greyson also mentioned communications from traffickers, which were written in a dialect not typical of Tijuana. Barbara Renteria, one of the husband-wife investigators on the case, believes there is much more to uncover and criticizes the Houston Police Department’s lack of interest.
