In the viral clip with 6.4 million views, Emiko shared her realization about the little-known feature, which filters out background noise when you’re on a call using the wireless headphones. Describing it as a “game changer,” her followers were taken aback by the revelation.
Emiko, an Australian native living in New York City, recounted how her ex-boyfriend suggested using the voice isolation feature during a phone call in the midst of the city’s commotion. She confessed that she had been unaware of this capability and expressed her surprise in the caption of the clip posted on Nov. 20, exclaiming, “How did I NOT know this.”
The AirPods Pro model, the only version with this audio feature, is equipped with the voice isolation feature that Emiko demonstrated in the clip. With options for standard voice isolation or wide spectrum, which leaves ambient noises unfiltered, Apple’s AirPods Pro aims to provide crystal clear sound during calls. As described by Apple, the feature prioritizes the user’s voice and blocks out ambient noises for clearer communication during FaceTime or phone calls.
To utilize the voice isolation or wide spectrum feature, users can simply swipe down from the top-right corner of their screen to open the Control Center during a call, tap Mic Mode, and select Voice Isolation or Wide Spectrum, as shown in the clip.
