Two men were shot, one fatally, in a vehicle-to-vehicle shooting in Compton, and authorities Thursday sought the public’s help to solve the crime.
Deputies were sent to a hospital about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday on a report of a gunshot victim at the location, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department reported.
“When deputies arrived, they learned the incident occurred at the intersection of North Central Avenue and Sam Littleton Street,” a sheriff’s department statement said.
“Based on preliminary information, the investigators learned that while the victims were stopped in their vehicle in the number two lane facing south, a sedan pulled alongside the right side of the victim’s vehicle and … approximately 3-6 rounds (were fired) directly at it,” the statement said. “After the shooting occurred, the driver of the victim’s vehicle drove to a local hospital. The rear passenger was pronounced deceased at the hospital.”
Information was not available on the identity of the fatally wounded man. The driver suffered a graze wound to his left shoulder, and a second passenger was not injured, according to the sheriff’s department. No arrests were reported.
