A 79-year-old woman in Adams County, Pennsylvania, was the victim of a burglary and possible sexual assault after a stranger forcefully entered her residence, as reported by the Pennsylvania State Police.
According to a press release from the Gettysburg barracks, law enforcement responded to a burglary call at the woman’s home on Center Mills Road in Aspers at around 1:11 p.m. on Tuesday, October 17.
The victim, a 79-year-old woman, informed the officers that a man knocked on her door during the overnight hours of October 16 and 17. When she opened the door, the man unlawfully entered her residence.
Preliminary evidence suggests that the victim may have been sexually assaulted during the incident. She received medical attention at Gettysburg Hospital and was subsequently discharged with no serious injuries.
In their press release, the police advised residents to remain vigilant by securing their doors and windows and exercising caution when dealing with unfamiliar individuals at their homes.
The investigation into the burglary and possible sexual assault is ongoing.
