A man accused of assaulting two spectators during a high school football game in Ohio has been arrested. The incident occurred on October 12 at West Holmes High School when Raymond Korns of New Philadelphia allegedly punched a 72-year-old man and a 52-year-old man in the face. The 72-year-old victim was hospitalized, while the other declined medical treatment.
The Holmes County Sheriff’s Office reported that Korns, who was a fan of the opposing team, had been “heckling and taunting” fans of the home team. While attempting to flee in his Honda Civic, Korns struck a man who was trying to prevent him from leaving. The injured man suffered a leg injury but did not receive medical care.
Korns was apprehended by authorities as he attempted to escape the high school. He was released from jail on October 13 after posting a $50,000 bond. Body camera footage revealed Korns telling an arresting officer that he left the scene because he was afraid of getting beaten up.
West Holmes Schools Superintendent Eric Jurkovic expressed disappointment over the incident, stating that such behavior would not be tolerated and that spectators should show respect for one another. West Holmes High School is located in Millsersburg, approximately 80 miles southwest of Cleveland.
