Travelers are witnessing a decline in flight prices this year. The average domestic round-trip fares for Thanksgiving are now at $268 per ticket, which is a 14% decrease from last year. “Prices will start to rise after about Oct. 14th for both Thanksgiving and Christmas trips,” stated Berg. “Plan your booking as soon as possible, as prices will escalate daily as the holidays approach.”
Hopper predicts a significant spike in flight prices during the last three weeks leading up to each holiday.

While nonstop flights may be more expensive, they can help you avoid the risk of missing connections due to flight disruptions.
Travelers should also consider purchasing travel insurance and familiarize themselves with their rights in case of travel plan interruptions.
Furthermore, if you have a specific flight that you must take, make sure to secure a seat on that flight, added Berg.
