In the ongoing conflict in Ukraine’s Kharkiv and Donetsk oblasts, the Russian forces have suffered significant losses, with more than 4,000 soldiers and 500 pieces of equipment lost. Ground Forces Commander Oleksandr Syrskyi revealed these figures on Nov. 14, underscoring the intensity of the fighting in the region.
The Russian forces have been particularly aggressive in their attacks around Kupiansk, as well as to the north and south of the devastated city of Bakhmut. Despite their persistent efforts to gain the upper hand, Ukrainian defenders from the Khortytsia group have successfully held their ground and inflicted heavy casualties on the enemy.
Although Russian forces have escalated their use of attack drones, Syrskyi emphasized that the enemy’s offensive capabilities are diminishing with each passing day. This assertion comes after his statement on Nov. 12, in which he highlighted Russia’s intensified attacks near Bakhmut. Despite capturing the city in May 2023, Russia has struggled to consolidate its hold, leading to continued fighting in the area.
