Rosie O’Donnell Advocates for the Release of the Menendez Brothers, Claims She is in Proximity to Lyle

  • Rosie O’Donnell expresses her belief in the innocence of the Menendez brothers on TikTok.
  • She reveals that she has developed a close relationship with Lyle Menendez through phone calls.
  • The Menendez brothers were sentenced to life in prison for the murder of their parents in 1996.

Rosie O’Donnell advocates for the release of the Menendez brothers, asserting their innocence, decades after their conviction for murder.

In a TikTok video posted over the weekend, the 61-year old actor and comedian presents the argument that Lyle and Erik Menendez, who were convicted of killing their parents Jose and Kitty Menendez in 1989, were victims of incest and acted in self-defense.

O’Donnell discloses that Lyle reached out to her after his conviction, claiming that she knew they were innocent.

She reveals that her own experience of sexual abuse by her father, which she publicly revealed in 2019, has influenced her belief in the brothers’ innocence.

Initially hesitant to respond to Lyle’s letter due to her own fear of addressing her abuse, O’Donnell recently engaged with him and his wife Rebecca, forming a close connection through phone conversations.

O’Donnell poses rhetorical questions in her TikTok video, questioning the credibility of Lyle and Erik’s claims and linking their case to allegations made against Jose Menendez by Menudo singer Roy Rosselló.

She argues that the brothers, whom she believes suffered severe abuse, have already paid a significant price through their lengthy prison sentences and apparent good behavior in prison.

The former talk show host concludes her video by urging for the release of the Menendez brothers.

Erik and Lyle committed the murders of their parents on August 20, 1989, in their Beverly Hills home.

They confessed to the crimes but claimed self-defense, citing a history of abuse by their parents.

After a mistrial in 1994, the brothers were subsequently convicted of first-degree murder in 1996 and received life sentences without the possibility of parole.
