Rolling Stones Release “Sweet Sounds of Heaven” with Lady Gaga and Stevie Wonder
September 29 (UPI) — The Rolling Stones have collaborated with Lady Gaga and Stevie Wonder on a brand new song. Titled “Sweet Sounds of Heaven,” this track is featured on their upcoming album, “Hackney Diamonds.” The British rock band released this exciting collaboration on Friday.
Gaga took to Instagram to share her experience, stating that she was in the studio for her film, Joker: Folie à Deux, when Mick Jagger invited her to join the band. She mentioned that they were joined by Wonder and music producer Andrew Watt in a neighboring studio. Gaga reminisced, “Mick then asked if I’d hang in the live room while they cut another record. I sat down on the floor, my back against a Rhodes – someone handed me some headphones and eventually a mic.”
Gaga continued, “Mick was towering over me, smiling, saying ‘go on and do your thing then.’ I listened to the music, scribbled furiously trying to learn the tune, and then freestyled and sang along.” She expressed her excitement about being a part of the Rolling Stones’ session, stating, “everyone was so excited having me there (this felt so exciting if not slightly insane).”
After going home, Gaga received a text message from Andrew the next day, revealing that Mick wanted to record the vocals with her that night – “the way he’d cut them back in the day. Same room, two mics. Single takes.” During the recording, Gaga revealed that she sang in a way she had never done before, except when singing with Mick. She stated, “Andrew and I both cried – there’s something about witnessing music history, and when you get to be a part of it, I think that’s exactly what our heaven feels like. It’s just a sweet sound.”
The Rolling Stones will release “Hackney Diamonds” on October 20. The album will also feature the song “Angry,” which the band recently released a music video for, starring Euphoria actress Sydney Sweeney.
Moments from Lady Gaga’s music career include her headlining Virgin Mobile’s Re Generation benefit concert in Toronto in 2008 and performing for Britain’s Queen Elizabeth the following year.
