Tenant from Hell: Elizabeth Hirschhorn, the Infamous Airbnb Guest
Meet Elizabeth Hirschhorn, the notorious tenant who has been causing waves in Los Angeles. Hirschhorn, also known as America’s worst Airbnb guest, is currently embroiled in a legal battle with homeowner Sascha Jovanovic. You won’t believe the audacity of her actions!
Hirschhorn’s saga began when she illegally occupied a luxurious guesthouse in the affluent Brentwood neighborhood for a mind-boggling 540 days without paying rent. When the owner, dentist Sascha Jovanovic, tried to evict her, she retaliated by countersuing him. But that’s not all – a deeper dive into Hirschhorn’s history reveals a pattern of similar behavior.
In June 2019, she filed a lawsuit over a traffic accident that occurred in July 2017. Remarkably, this case overlapped with two others – one in Los Angeles involving an unpaid $19,000 credit card bill from AMEX, and another in Oakland where she refused to vacate a sublet cottage. Astonishingly, Hirschhorn cited ill-health and Covid-19 regulations as reasons for her refusal to leave the Oakland property, despite not paying any rent to the owners.
Hirschhorn’s legal battles seem never-ending. Now that DailyMail.com has uncovered her past cases, Jovanovic’s lawyer plans to file a fresh appeal, exposing her bad faith actions. The Oakland and AMEX cases serve as evidence of her dubious behavior.
We had the opportunity to speak with Brian Bishop, the owner of the cottage in Oakland that Hirschhorn refused to vacate. While he acknowledged the legal dispute, he couldn’t comment on the terms of her departure.
Despite our attempts to contact Hirschhorn, she remains unreachable. It appears she is headed for more legal trouble.
Hirschhorn’s litigious nature is evident through her numerous lawsuits and countersuits. In 2019, she filed a case against Jacqueline McMahon and Timothy Hayes over a car accident that happened two years earlier. However, her inability to provide any supporting evidence led to the case being thrown out in 2022.
Interestingly, Hirschhorn describes herself as a writer and film producer on LinkedIn, yet her work history tells a different story. Her last credit on IMDb dates back to 2002 for a writing gig on The Osbournes. It seems she is more focused on legal battles than her supposed career.
In the AMEX case, Hirschhorn countered the credit card company’s lawsuit, claiming they had failed to reimburse her for false charges made by a relocation company. However, after more than two years of legal wrangling, she was forced to admit her liability, resulting in a $19,037.96 bill plus costs.
Despite owing Jovanovic $60,000 in back rent for the 18 months she has overstayed her tenancy and refusing to leave his guesthouse, Hirschhorn was granted the legal right to stay by an LA judge. This decision is currently under appeal, as Jovanovic’s attorneys believe the judge misinterpreted the tenancy law.
Adding to the turmoil, Hirschhorn’s lawyers argue that Jovanovic’s failure to obtain a permit for a shower in the guesthouse validates her right to stay and cancels the outstanding rent. They also claim she should receive reimbursement for the $19,000 rent paid upfront through Airbnb.
Colin Walshok, Hirschhorn’s attorney from San Diego, accuses Jovanovic of harassment and denies the allegations made against his client. He claims that a long-term lease agreement was in place, though no documentation exists to support this.
As the legal battles continue, Hirschhorn remains America’s worst Airbnb renter, demanding a staggering $100,000 to vacate Jovanovic’s property. The perplexing story of Elizabeth Hirschhorn leaves us questioning her motives and actions.
