Reports: Son of Super Bowl champion Brady Poppinga tragically passes away following a severe asthma attack

The tragic passing of Julius Poppinga, the son of former Green Bay Packers linebacker Brady Poppinga, has left the football community mourning. Julius, a talented junior at Westlake High School in California, suffered a severe asthma attack that led to a collapsed lung and ultimately claimed his life at the young age of 17.

The Westlake Football family expressed their deepest condolences to the Poppinga Family through an Instagram post, highlighting the impact Julius had as a beloved member of their team. His sister, Jasmine, also shared a poignant message on Instagram, choosing to celebrate Julius’ beautiful and meaningful 17 years on Earth rather than succumb to grief.

Brady Poppinga, known for his successful NFL career primarily with the Green Bay Packers, expressed his gratitude for the support and prayers received during this difficult time. After retiring from football, Poppinga played briefly for the St. Louis Rams and the Dallas Cowboys.

The Westlake High School football team, despite their profound loss, will continue their season as scheduled. Coach Mark Serve shared that Julius’ father emphasized his son’s desire for the team to carry on and play in his honor.

It is with heavy hearts that we reflect on the tragedy that has befallen the Poppinga family, and we extend our deepest sympathies to them during this incredibly challenging time.
