Kellie Picker’s late husband, Kyle Jacobs, received a touching tribute at a private memorial service held in August. The ceremony, lasting three hours, took place at Franklin First United Methodist Church in Franklin, Tennessee. Hundreds of mourners attended to honor the talented songwriter and vocalist. Although Picker did not participate in the ceremony, it was livestreamed on YouTube for those who wanted to pay their respects.
The memorial service was organized by Jacobs’ parents, who explained in a statement to People magazine that it helped them cope with the shock of his passing and adjust to life without their beloved son. They wanted the celebration to be a meaningful and comprehensive tribute to how Kyle lived his life.
The statement described Kyle as a lover of life who had a genuine and humble spirit. He touched the lives of numerous people, even those he didn’t know. The family expressed gratitude towards their church community for their support and also thanked everyone involved in organizing the event. The stories, songs, and love shared during the ceremony were a testament to Kyle’s ability to bring people together.
The memorial service began with a prayer invitation from Mike Curb, the founder of Curb Records, who shared his memories of Jacobs. Throughout the service, emotional speeches and musical performances were delivered by Jacobs’ family, friends, and colleagues. The celebration of life concluded with a performance of one of Kyle’s songs, “You Are With Me.”
Tragically, Kyle Jacobs died from suicide at the age of 49 in February. His death was confirmed by the Nashville Police Department, who stated that he was found dead with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. Toxicology results revealed no drugs in his system, although he had a history of health issues related to pseudoseizures, gastrointestinal bleeding, elevated liver enzymes, and chronic alcohol use.
Six months after Kyle’s death, Kellie Picker broke her silence and expressed gratitude to her supporters, calling it the darkest time in her life. She shared a valuable lesson he taught her about staying still in moments of crisis. Picker thanked her family, friends, and supporters for their letters, calls, and messages, stating that they had touched her soul and helped her through her grief. She also mentioned plans for an intimate memorial for her late husband, as it was his wishes.
Kellie Picker and Kyle Jacobs got engaged in 2010 after a year and a half of dating and surprised everyone with a wedding ceremony on New Year’s Day in 2011.
