Ranking the Best ‘Destiny 2’ Seasons: Prepare for the Final Season

Destiny 2’s Season of the Wish commences today, marking the final season before the game transitions to an episodic model next year. As we bid adieu to the traditional format, let’s take a trip down memory lane and rank all the seasons, from the best to the worst, based on my personal experience and opinions.

1. Season of Dawn (2020) – This season delivered a powerful storyline with the return of Saint, along with a fantastic weapon slate and the engaging Sundial activity. It remains a personal favorite.

2. Season of the Chosen (2021) – The start of the Caiatl storyline was a standout feature, and the introduction of Battlegrounds and the focus on forging partnerships added a fresh dynamic to the game.

3. Season of the Witch (2023) – Despite encountering a dip in player count, this season offered abundant PvE content with Altars and Spire, concluding Eris’ compelling Hive journey.

4. Season of Opulence (2019) – The Menagerie activity was a highlight, albeit with minimal story content. Nevertheless, it set the bar for seasonal activities and included a memorable raid.

5. Season of the Seraph (2022) – This season brought together Clovis Bray and Rasputin, offering compelling activities and a solid story arc.

6. Season of the Forge (2018) – While the Forges themselves were less engaging, this season delivered great weapons and a stellar raid experience.

7. Season of the Lost (2021) – Bungie’s creative offerings shone through in this season, and the addition of Dares of Eternity as a free activity was a welcomed surprise.

8. Season of Arrivals (2020) – Despite its main focus on a public event, this season delivered strong story beats and a sense of impending doom with the arrival of the pyramids.

9. Season of the Risen (2022) – The diverse weapon slate and engaging story beats made this season a standout, despite mixed reception towards Battlegrounds.

10. Season of the Splicer (2022) – While it offered some notable additions like the Chroma Rush weapon, certain storylines fell short of expectations.

11. Season of the Haunted (2022) – The return of the derelict Leviathan was a highlight, but repetitive activities and repetitive trauma storylines left much to be desired.

12. Season of the Worthy (2020) – This season had its merits with cool weapons and the introduction of Warmind Cells, but the public event fell short in execution.

13. Season of Plunder (2022) – This season seemed disjointed and suffered from power creep, resulting in a lackluster experience.

14. Season of Defiance (2023) – While it was decent for an expansion-attached season, the handling of certain story elements left a lot to be desired.

15. Season of the Deep (2023) – This past year’s season featured lackluster activities and notable difficulties, leading to a less than engaging experience.

16. Season of the Hunt (2020) – While it introduced the intriguing Savathun Osiris storyline, the boss fights fell flat and left much to be desired.

17. Season of the Drifter (2019) – Despite efforts to develop Gambit, certain activities like The Reckoning failed to make a lasting impression.

18. Season of the Undying (2019) – As the first expansion-attached season, it struggled to leave a mark, despite its unique armor and weapon aesthetic.

As for Season of the Wish (2023), the verdict is pending. Let’s see what destiny has in store for us.
