Andy Lee has revealed the worst celebrity he has ever interviewed as a radio host.

The 41-year-old comedian faced a grilling about his career on The Kyle and Jackie O Show on Tuesday during a segment called ‘Spit or Swallow’, in which he had to answer tough questions or swallow ‘something disgusting’ if he refused.

When asked to name his worst A-list interviewee, he admitted it was legendary Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash, whose real name is Saul Hudson.

He said the appearance got off to a bad start when Slash ‘rocked up a hour early’ with the lead singer for his new band and asked for him to be interviewed as well.

Radio hosts Kyle Sandilands and Jackie ‘O’ Henderson groaned when they heard this, with Jackie remarking: ‘I hate it when they do that.’

Andy continued: ‘I asked Slash a question. I said, “Well, we’ll get to the new band. But just take us back to Guns N’ Roses…” and he said, “Why are you asking me a question? Why aren’t you asking my new lead singer?”‘

Andy, who was co-hosting a national radio show with Hamish Blake at the time, explained they had planned an interesting segment in which listeners would ‘ask a question’ by playing a guitar riff and Slash would ‘answer’ with a guitar lick of his own.

While Andy ‘thought that could be fun’, Slash said the idea sounded ‘pretty gay’.

By this point, he and Hamish had run out of ideas and were ‘just sort of sitting there’ before one of them asked about Slash’s statement item of clothing: his top hat.

‘Why did you decide on the top hat? Did you start with a sombrero or did you go for the bowler?’ Andy recalled asking.

An unimpressed Slash then got up and left.

The Channel Nine host said he usually gives celebrities the ‘benefit of the doubt’, but that interview was so bad they couldn’t even broadcast it.

‘You probably have had that before, where someone has p**sed you off so much, you’re like, “Stuff it. We’re not even going to give them the air time,”‘ he added.

This isn’t the first time Andy has spoken of the disastrous interview.

He and Hamish shared more details about the awkward encounter during a chat with the Sydney Morning Herald in 2016.

‘We had Slash not want to play a guitar,’ Hamish recounted.

‘[If you are told], “Don’t mention Guns N’ Roses, long hair or top hats or guitars,” it’s like, “Well… Slash, what’s your favourite type of bonsai?” Seriously, what are we going to talk about?’

‘We got a guitar and we were going to get people to call up with their guitars and just play him a question, jamming and he could just answer them,’ Andy added.

‘He actually turned to us and said, “You know what, guys, I think that’s a bit gay.”

Hamish said: ‘He got really sulky and upset but he can’t really blame us too much for having a guitar in the studio if one of the world’s premier guitarists is on!’

It comes after Andy told Stellar magazine he doesn’t think marriage is ‘super important’ after dating girlfriend Rebecca Harding for almost eight years.

He said that while some couples perceive ‘milestones’ like marriage as important, they are ‘not for everyone’.

Rebecca, 30, said they had already taken steps to demonstrate their commitment to each other and were happy taking things as they come.

‘It is really unfair and there is also other pressure to have kids, as well. And unfortunately for women, we do have a little bit of a clock that’s ticking…’ she said.

‘We’re loving where we’re at, really. We’ve bought a house. We’ve got a dog, and we have a few other projects, too.’

The couple have been together since 2014, but they split up briefly in 2016 before getting back together
