A 41-year-old probationer, Ruben Arguello, has been accused of committing multiple counts of felony offenses, including the repeated sexual assault of a 7-year-old girl from Moreno Valley. The arrest took place following an investigation conducted by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
Arguello now faces charges that include four counts of oral copulation of a child under 10 years old, two counts of forcible lewd acts on a minor, two counts of sexual penetration of a child, and one count of witness intimidation.
On Friday, the defendant made his initial court appearance before Superior Court Judge Mark Johnson. The judge assigned him a public defender and scheduled his arraignment for August 4th at the Riverside Hall of Justice.
Arguello is currently held without bail at the Robert Presley Jail.
Sheriff’s Sergeant Alfredo Medina revealed that deputies received information earlier this week regarding the alleged sexual abuse of a child at a residence in Moreno Valley. The deputies initiated an investigation based on this information.
“The investigation revealed an assault occurred in Moreno Valley, and additional assaults took place outside the county,” Medina stated.
The specific relationship between the defendant and the girl, as well as the girl’s identity, have not been disclosed.
The culmination of the findings led to the issuance of an arrest warrant, which was served on Arguello at his residence on Avenida De Loring. The defendant was taken into custody without incident on Wednesday afternoon.
Court records indicate that Arguello has a prior misdemeanor conviction for disturbing the peace.
