Potential Injury Update: Rams’ Cooper Kupp Ruled Out by Coach McVay for Week 1 Clash vs Seahawks

Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay has officially announced that star wide receiver Cooper Kupp will not be playing in Week 1 against the Seattle Seahawks due to a hamstring injury.

Unfortunately, McVay did not rule out the possibility of Kupp being placed on the injured reserve for the 2021 season, which is something Rams fans undoubtedly want to avoid early on.

Currently, the Rams are facing the reality of Kupp’s ongoing hamstring issue, which originated during the offseason. On Monday, he visited a specialist in Minnesota to determine the root cause of his injury.

The purpose of Kupp’s visit to the specialist was due to a setback in his recovery last week. The Rams are still evaluating his condition, and he remains day-to-day as they try to determine the cause of his injury.

After a challenging 2022 season, where Kupp only played nine games due to an ankle injury, McVay understandably does not want to rush his top receiving option back onto the field.

However, McVay acknowledges that as a head coach, he must work with the players he has available. If Kupp is unable to play, the Rams’ top receivers for Week 1 will be Van Jefferson and Tutu Atwell, with tight end Tyler Higbee potentially seeing an increased role in the offense.
