A tragic incident occurred when a 9-year-old girl was witness to the murder of her mother at the hands of her mother’s partner.
32-year-old Thomas Wilson Alexander has been arrested by the Houston Police and charged with murder following the deadly shooting of his partner, 29-year-old Jasmine McHenry. The incident took place after a verbal argument, during which Alexander shot McHenry multiple times in front of her young daughter, Azariah Police sources have revealed.
Speaking to local media, Azariah bravely recounted how her mother had called for help right before the fatal shooting took place.
“My mom told me to call my grandma, and she told my grandma that Thomas pulled out a gun, and my grandma came,” Azariah told ABC13 reported
Cynthia Demerson, McHenry’s mother, immediately rushed to the scene upon receiving the call from Azariah.
“She said he was going to shoot her. That’s when I got in the vehicle and went over there,” Demerson told ABC13.
Following the incident, Houston Police arrived and discovered McHenry in her apartment, suffering from a gunshot wound. Sadly, paramedics pronounced her dead at the scene, as stated in a police announcement.
Demerson also received treatment for injuries she sustained at the scene, although the details of her injuries have not been disclosed by the police.
According to court records, Alexander’s bond has been set at $1 million, and he is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.
Following this tragic event, Azariah and her 3-year-old half-brother will now be under the care of Demerson.
