Patriotic NRL fans have the opportunity to promote their true colours during Wednesday night’s State of Origin thanks to Pizza Hut’s limited edition blue and maroon ranch sauce.

Dubbed ‘Sauce of Origin’ the restaurant’s campaign gives proud Blue Bloods and Queenslanders the opportunity to serve up support for their team.

The winner of the ‘Sauce of Origin’ will prove which team is the ‘fan favourite’.

Pizza Hut Australia’s Director of Marketing and Digital, Simon Stocks says ‘Sauce of Origin is the perfect way to show support for your team’.

‘We’re excited to see which colour comes out on top and help Aussies share good times along the way.’

The Sauce of Origin is available in participating stores until July 13 and can be added to pizza, wings, meatballs and Schnittzas.

Krispy Kreme release blue and maroon glazed doughnuts:

The biggest footy battle of the year has arrived and to celebrate the famous cross-border rivalry, Krispy Kreme is bringing back its limited-edition doughnuts for New South Wales and Queensland fans.

The NSW doughnut is a classic Original Glazed dipped in blue icing and finished with white icing drizzle.

For those on the opposition, the QLD doughnut is a classic Original Glazed® dipped in maroon icing, finished with golden caramel truffle drizzle.

Olivia Sutherland, Marketing Director at Krispy Kreme Australia revealed the chain’s plans to bring the colour-coded treats after their success in 2021.

The limited-edition game day doughnuts will be available for $29.95 per dozen – in blue, maroon or mixed packs – for next day delivery or click and collect over the duration of the series.

Fans will need to get their orders in by 5.00pm the day before the game to score their doughnuts.

They can also head into participating stores on game days to ‘snap up’ a dozen.

Queensland have come home with the State of Origin trophy 22 times in the last 40 years, while New South Wales have won on 16 occasions.

The states have tied twice, in 2002 and 1999.

Queensland had the competition’s longest winning streak from 2006 through to 2013 and only missed out on the shield once from 200 to 2017.

Dominos calls for friendship across state lines on Origin night:

Domino’s is encouraging NRL fans from Queensland and New South Wales to come together ahead of the game on Wednesday 8 June in the name of free pizza.

A free Large Pepperoni or Simply Cheese Pizza will be given to the first 100 pairs who attend each of Domino’s Toowong, QLD and Domino’s Five Dock, NSW between 3.00pm and 5.00pm on Wednesday 8 June 2022 sporting State of Origin gear of the Queensland and New South Wales teams.

Domino’s ANZ CEO David Burness said that while rivalries tend to heat up during Origin, Domino’s is encouraging footy fans to set aside their differences.

‘At Domino’s, we know that our pizza brings people closer. That is why our ‘Store of Two Sides’ has been created, to bridge the gap between Maroons and Blues supporters,’ Mr Burness said.

Customers are encouraged to pre-order their pizzas for Origin as the chain expects to sell more than 350,000 pizzas on Origin night.
