An Allegation of Sexual Assault by a Guidance Counselor at Pennridge South Middle School
Kelly Ann Schutte, a 35-year-old from Pennsburg, Pennsylvania, is facing charges of institutional sexual assault, corruption of minors, and indecent assault of a person under 16 years of age. The accusations stem from an incident in July 2023, when the Upper Perk Police Department in Pennsburg received a report from a woman alleging that her 14-year-old son had been involved in a romantic and sexual relationship with Schutte, who was employed as a guidance counselor at the school.
The teenager confessed that he had contacted his parents in a panic on July 17, after being spotted kissing Schutte at her home. He sought refuge behind a parked vehicle before revealing the details of his relationship with Schutte. This revelation led to a police investigation involving interviews with the teenager, who admitted to regular contact with Schutte and sexual encounters in both Bucks and Montgomery counties during the summer of 2023.
Police found evidence of their communication on the Canvas messaging app and Snapchat, as well as photos of the pair together at Schutte’s residence in Pennsburg. Surveillance footage also depicted the two visiting a supermarket together.
Further evidence of Schutte’s involvement was found in Bucks County, where she was accused of sexually assaulting the teenager while his family was away. The Pennridge School District responded promptly to the allegations against Schutte, immediately placing her on administrative leave. The district has vowed to cooperate with the District Attorney’s Office as the investigation proceeds.
Schutte has since been arraigned and posted $25,000 unsecured bail. For further comments, NBC10 reached out to Schutte’s attorney but received no response.
