Passengers Make Daring Attempt to Storm Brussels Airlines Plane: An Unforgettable Incident

  • A video showed passengers confronting staff outside a Brussels Airlines plane this month.
  • A Brussels Airlines rep told Insider that a flight from Kinshasa to Brussels was canceled twice.
  • The second cancellation caused “unrest” at Kinshasa Airport, according to the representative.

A Brussels Airlines flight was canceled two days in a row, leading to a dramatic confrontation between passengers and staff members.

On Sunday, a Twitter account called Breaking Aviation News & Videos shared footage of the incident, which occurred on Saturday in Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The video showed passengers carrying their carry-on bags towards a grounded Brussels Airlines plane, where staff members were waiting nearby. Two women engaged in an argument with an employee, escalating into a heated verbal confrontation between staff and passengers. Despite rising tensions, the staff managed to keep the passengers at bay just outside the stairs leading to the plane.

A representative for Brussels Airlines confirmed via email on Tuesday that an Airbus A330 flight from Kinshasa to Brussels was originally scheduled for Friday but was postponed until Saturday. However, technical issues forced the plane to remain grounded until Sunday.

“There was indeed some unrest at Kinshasa airport on Saturday, Sept. 16, due to the second cancellation,” stated the representative.

The representative also mentioned that the affected passengers were provided hotel accommodations during the extended delay and expressed their apologies for the inconvenience caused by the cancellations.

The flight finally departed Kinshasa on Sunday evening and arrived in Brussels on Monday morning.

The summer has been marked by chaotic flight travel incidents. Just this month, social media was shocked by a flight making a U-turn due to a passenger’s uncontrollable diarrhea. In August, a drunken family argument turned violent, leading to an emergency landing of a Ryanair flight.
