The Fayetteville, Georgia house that was used as a set in the hit Netflix show “Stranger Things” is looking for a new owner.
Although it’s far from the show’s fictional location of Hawkins, Indiana, diehard fans will still immediately recognize the property as the one used as the Byers’ home in the beloved science-fiction series, whose long-awaited fourth season finally premiered this summer.
“My phone’s been blowing up,” agent Michael Smith, with EXP Realty LLC, told The Post of the reaction since the 1,846-square-foot ranch-style home listed for $300,000 this week. “I’m a super fan of the show and you know, I thought it was gonna be big — but I didn’t realize it would be that big.”
He’s received calls from both buyers and excited “Stranger Things” lovers simply looking to come visit.
The seven siblings selling the property are used to the attention: “Since the show was aired fans have traveled far and wide, almost daily, just to drive by and get a picture. So much so that the owners had to put up a driveway barricade and ‘Private Property’ signs just to keep people from trespassing, so needless to say the house gets a ton of attention,” notes the listing, adding that the popularity of the property gives it great Airbnb potential.
In order to get the house into Airbnb-able shape, though, Smith estimates that, in addition to the purchase price, the buyer will need to sink an additional $50,000 to $100,000 into the 100-plus-year-old single-story spread for repairs.
“They don’t have the capacity to fix it up and turn it into an attraction or an Airbnb, so they wanna sell it, to give somebody the opportunity to,” Smith said of the current owners, who were all raised in the house. “It’s been in their family their whole lives,” he added.
And before it became a Hollywood soundstage for otherworldly activity, it was a shelter for the weary.
“Their mom used to take people who were experiencing hard times, take them in and get them on their feet, give them a meal, let them stay a few days till they got where they needed to go,” said Smith. Then, in 2015, the family was approached by the “Stranger Things” production team.
They “told them they were looking for a house that looked like it could be in ‘The Goonies,’ but with an alien.”
