The individual suspected of shooting someone near downtown Orlando has been confirmed dead after attempting to flee the scene and subsequently crashing while being pursued by law enforcement. ▶ WATCH CHANNEL 9 EYEWITNESS NEWS
According to the Orlando police, the incident took place on Wednesday afternoon around 1 p.m. on the 700 block of West Church Street, adjacent to Exploria Stadium in Parramore. Following an encounter with a marked patrol car, the alleged shooter quickly made their escape.
Authorities report that officers engaged in a pursuit of the suspect’s vehicle as it headed west on Michigan Street under Interstate 4, where the suspect then attempted to bypass traffic by using the eastbound lanes.

Tragedy struck when the suspect collided with an oncoming vehicle, unrelated to the incident, just west of I-4. The suspect sustained fatal injuries from the crash and was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. The passenger in the suspect’s vehicle also suffered injuries and was transported to the hospital in serious condition.
To investigate the crash further, the Orlando police have closed off Michigan Street in both directions. Motorists are advised to avoid the area. The closure is expected to last for several hours.
Additionally, it has been reported that the driver of the uninvolved vehicle was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
