Order Directly Targeted Them, Says Ezra Miller, Calling it Unjust

  • The temporary harassment order against Ezra Miller in Massachusetts expired on Friday.
  • A mother obtained the order, alleging that Miller had shown inappropriate interest in her child.
  • Miller criticized the order, calling it an “egregious misuse of the protective order system.”

Ezra Miller criticized the temporary harassment order against them, calling it an “egregious misuse of the protective order system” after its expiration on Friday.

The 30-year-old star of “The Flash” has faced various controversies and legal battles in recent years. One of the incidents involved a Massachusetts mother accusing Miller of showing inappropriate interest in her 12-year-old child.

In June 2022, the plaintiff Shannon Guin obtained a temporary restraining order against Miller, which expired after a year on Friday, as stated in a copy of the order shared by Deadline.

Miller expressed gratitude for the outcome and thanked those who supported them in a statement to Deadline.

“Protective orders are intended to ensure the safety of individuals, families, and children at risk. They should not be weaponized by individuals seeking attention or fleeting tabloid fame. There are people who genuinely need these services,” Miller stated.

Without naming anyone, Miller mentioned being unjustly targeted by an individual responsible for manipulative and harmful actions.

No immediate response from Miller’s representatives was received by Insider outside of normal working hours.

However, Miller’s attorney Marissa Elkins, in a statement to Deadline, mentioned that the harassment order against the “Fantastic Beasts” star would never have been issued if Miller’s significant mental health issues at the time had been taken into account.

“If Ezra had been able to attend court last year and present the truth about their limited interactions with Ms. Guin, I believe the original order would not have been issued,” Elkins stated.

Elkins also revealed that Miller was present at the hearing announcing the expiration of the order, while the plaintiff Guin was absent.

“Ezra acknowledges making mistakes and behaving in ways they regret during their personal struggles. However, that does not make every allegation, rumor, or false accusation true,” Elkins added. “There are real-world consequences when these claims are irresponsibly amplified without considering the facts or the truth.”

“Nevertheless, Ezra is now in a much healthier state compared to last year and is relieved to put this behind them,” the statement concluded.
