Reigning NBA champion coach, Michael Malone, has reportedly agreed to a contract extension with the Denver Nuggets, making him one of the highest-paid coaches in the league, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. The news comes after Malone led the team to a 8-2 start in the current season.

Over the course of his tenure, Malone has accumulated a 375-272 record with the Nuggets and secured five consecutive playoff appearances. His coaching prowess culminated in the team’s first-ever NBA championship in 2023, with a 4-1 victory over the Miami Heat in the finals.
Aside from postseason success, Malone has been selected as an All-Star coach twice and currently sits as the third-winningest coach in Nuggets history, behind only George Karl and Doug Moe. He stands as the fourth longest-tenured coach in the league, trailing only Gregg Popovich, Erik Spoelstra, and Steve Kerr.
Before his time with the Nuggets, Malone held assistant coaching positions with multiple teams, including the New York Knicks, Cleveland Cavaliers, New Orleans Pelicans, and Golden State Warriors before securing his first head coaching role with the Sacramento Kings.
