Nose-wrinkling Pot Odor, Homeless Population, and Urban Decay: Uncovering the Deep-rooted Problems of NYC

New York, New York, once hailed as a vibrant city. But not anymore.

From the East Side to the West Side, all around the town, the aroma of marijuana permeates the air. Homeless individuals lie on the sidewalk, while women wearing extremely short shorts expose the remnants of their last meal. Trash litters the streets, and roaches and rats scurry about. Storefronts are empty, some even boarded up. Taxes and prices have skyrocketed, making everything more expensive. Amidst all this, a Long Island politician, who has admitted to lying, shamelessly seeks re-election to Congress. Law-abiding citizens are being hit by bicyclists who ride in the wrong direction. Schools are overcrowded and understaffed.

We now have non-English-speaking individuals with questionable backgrounds living among us. Their loyalty lies elsewhere, and some may even have health issues. There have been cases where these individuals have transported drugs, and their lifestyles and the streets they occupy have become so dangerous that walking alone is now a cause for fear. As a result, residents are moving away. School buses are limited, and the presence of vagrants, sick individuals, and the mentally ill has led to harm in certain areas. Broadway is suffering, and officials are allowing cop killers to roam free.

It’s a flee market

Rents have skyrocketed, guns are abundant, and knives pose a threat in every corner. Killings and stabbings have become daily occurrences. Anti-Semitism is on the rise, and churches and buildings are empty. The President seems disoriented, unaware of his whereabouts, and the Vice President doesn’t seem to know where the border is. The police force has diminished, and public transportation is in shambles. Theaters remain closed, and department stores are empty. English is fading away as a second language takes its place. Traffic is unbearable, and the cost of living is a constant struggle. Healthcare is also a major concern.

Doctors are leaving, family businesses are closing down, and the middle class is giving up. Parking is non-existent, unemployment rates are high, and wages remain low. Homeless individuals can be seen everywhere, and the ongoing construction has turned major roads into parking lots. Seniors and the mentally ill are lacking welfare assistance. And as for the middle class, it has disappeared.

Not liking Giuliani, who was instrumental in cleaning up the city years ago when squeegee guys terrorized motorists. Not liking Donald, who at least promises to address the migrant crisis. And definitely not liking Dragg Bragg. No one does.

New York, New York. The city that was once considered the greatest in the world. The place everyone dreamed of coming to. But where should longtime residents go now? Whitefish, Mont.? Monowi, Neb.? How about Golconda, Ill.?

Off track

Let me tell you a story. Eva, a hardworking housekeeper, is loyal, devoted, and honest. She is a legal immigrant from Mexico who came to this country a long time ago with the proper documentation. She applied for citizenship legally and pledged her allegiance to the flag. She survives by working tirelessly.

One morning, while she was alone, she took the subway to work. As she was descending the station steps, a stranger inexplicably pushed her from behind. She tumbled down the dirty, uncarpeted stone stairs. Somehow, she managed to make it to work, and we took care of her.

Bless this mess

Our city streets are now filled with people who don’t belong here. We are all working hard and struggling to make ends meet. We live in constant fear for our safety, our health, and our future, as well as the well-being of our loved ones. Just the other day, one of us had to step over a motionless body lying right in front of a luxury Park Avenue residence. Eventually, authorities came and removed the body.

Is this what hardworking, taxpaying, loyal, patriotic American voters elected officials for – to be at risk of getting stabbed, beaten, shot, robbed, and insulted? It seems like today’s definition of a mugger is someone who steals your money without even having to run for office.

So where should us longtime residents of New York City go? Chillicothe? Yuma?
