Nimmala seamlessly integrates into Blue Jays organization

TORONTO – The moment Arjun Nimmala set foot in Toronto, he felt an immediate connection to the Blue Jays.

This 17-year-old shortstop was chosen as the 20th overall pick by the Blue Jays in the Major League Baseball amateur draft on July 9. During his visit to Toronto, he toured Rogers Centre, met with the club’s front office, and finalized his first-ever professional baseball contract, officially signing it on Monday.

“The experience was surreal. I couldn’t have imagined it any better,” said Nimmala during a video conference from Dunedin, Fla., as he visited the Blue Jays’ minor-league complex. “Everyone, the coaches, Mark Shapiro (team president), Ross Atkins (general manager), they were incredibly kind and welcoming.”
