Aug. 23 (UPI) — Netflix has released a sneak peek of the upcoming Season 7 of the Spanish teen drama series, “Elite.”
The streaming service unveiled first-look photos for the new season, highlighting the addition of Brazilian singer Anitta to the cast.
“Elite” follows the lives of students at Las Encinas, a fictional high school in Spain.
In Season 6, the characters dealt with the aftermath of Samuel’s death and confronted issues such as racism, sexism, domestic abuse, and homophobia within their school.
The new season will feature André Lamoglia, Valentina Zenere, Carla Díaz, Martina Cariddi, Adam Nourou, and Manu Ríos as part of the main cast, with Omar Ayuso and Nadia Al Saidi returning.
Anitta’s casting in Season 7 was announced by Netflix in March.
“A girl from Rio you may already know… is about to make an entrance at Las Encinas. @Anitta is joining the #Elite7 cast,” Netflix said on Instagram.
Anitta, known for hit songs like “Downtown” with J Balvin and “Machika” with J Balvin and Jeon, released her latest album, “Versions of Me,” in April 2022.
In addition to her music career, Anitta has joined the lineup of the Global Citizen Festival.
Season 7 of “Elite” will premiere on October 20. Netflix announced the release date in June, accompanied by a teaser showing the cast skydiving and engaging in intimate encounters on the ground.
