National: Kevin Costner Claims Ex-Wife Illegitimately Charged $100K to His Credit Card Amid Ongoing Divorce

Actor Kevin Costner and his estranged wife Christine Baumgartner are currently in a dispute over the terms of their impending divorce. In court documents filed on June 30 in California, Costner stated that Baumgartner charged $100,000 in legal expenses to his credit card during the months of May and June. According to People magazine, Costner expressed his frustration by saying, “Christine began charging large sums on the credit cards payable to her divorce attorneys and forensic accountants. She gave me no advance warning each time she did so.” While it was reported by Insider that Costner canceled the credit card, he actually lowered the spending limit to $30,000 per month.

In a declaration obtained by Insider, Costner further explained his actions: “Christine says I have not maintained the status quo because I canceled one of her credit cards and because I put a large limit on the use of the credit card she uses.” He emphasized that he has been fulfilling his responsibilities towards their children, stating, “I agreed to maintain the status quo with respect to our children. I have done so. I have continued to pay for all of the children’s expenses since Christine filed for divorce. Christine does not claim that the children’s expenses have not been paid.”

Costner criticized Baumgartner for making baseless arguments that are prolonging the divorce proceedings. He offered her $65,000 for her legal fees but received no response from her lawyers. The couple shares three children: Cayden, 15, Hayes, 14, and Grace, 12.

This credit card dispute is just one of many issues arising from their divorce. Last month, Costner accused Baumgartner of violating their prenuptial agreement by refusing to leave his southern California house. According to the agreement, she was supposed to vacate the property within 30 days of filing for divorce. Baumgartner has stated that she will not move out until a child support agreement is reached. She is requesting $248,000 per month in child support, $350,000 in lawyer’s fees, and $150,000 in forensic accounting costs.

Baumgartner, who claims to have no income as a stay-at-home parent, is also asking Costner to cover their children’s private school tuition, extracurricular activities, and healthcare expenses. Costner has already paid her $1.4 million as specified in the prenuptial agreement.

Baumgartner has proposed to vacate Costner’s home on August 31 if they reach a financial agreement. The ex-couple is scheduled to appear in court later this week.

Aside from his personal issues, Costner is currently working on post-production for his latest film, Horizon: An American Saga, which he starred in, produced, and directed. Although he is no longer part of the hit TV series Yellowstone, he remains active in the entertainment industry.
