Apple achieved a historic milestone on Friday, closing with a record market value of $3 trillion, solidifying its position as the most valuable company in history.
The technology giant ended the trading day at $193.97 per share, representing a more than two percent increase from the previous day. This surge propelled Apple’s market value to an impressive $3.05 trillion, making it the first company to surpass the $3 trillion threshold.
While Apple briefly hit the $3 trillion mark during trading in January 2022, it ultimately fell below the mark by day’s end, as reported by The Associated Press.
In the course of just one year, the company experienced a staggering $1 trillion decline in market value, dropping below the $2 trillion mark in January of this year, according to CNN. Nonetheless, Apple’s stock has since rebounded, enjoying a 49 percent increase since the start of 2023.
With its achievement of becoming the first U.S. company to reach $1 trillion in market value in 2018 and surpassing $2 trillion in 2020, as reported by Bloomberg, Apple continues to dominate the market.
Microsoft currently holds the second spot as the second-most valuable public company, with a market value of $2.5 trillion. Following closely behind is Saudi Aramco, an oil giant, with a market value of $2.08 trillion. Additionally, several other tech giants such as Alphabet (parent company of Google), Amazon, and Nvidia have market values exceeding $1 trillion, according to AP.
