Meta has collaborated with Ray-Ban to create a line of smart glasses that are not only functional but also fashionable. Learn more about these innovative glasses by checking out Meta’s official announcement.
The smart glasses, available in the iconic Wayfarer frame, will be available for purchase starting from October 17. This high-tech eyewear was unveiled by Mark Zuckerberg at the 2023 Meta Connect conference in Menlo Park, California. Zuckerberg aims to make these glasses the next must-have accessory.
Although Zuckerberg may not be known for his fashion sense, Meta has enlisted the help of F1 driver Charles Leclerc to make these smart glasses cool amongst young consumers. Leclerc, with his 12 million Instagram followers, shared an impressive video of himself wearing the shades after their unveiling.
In his video, Leclerc can be seen wearing the glasses while driving a red Ferrari. He captioned the video as “Game changing.” Another video shows Leclerc putting on the glasses and capturing his vision using the two tiny cameras installed in the frame.
The response from fans has been overwhelming, with many expressing their eagerness to purchase these shades retailing at $299.
Last year, Meta launched its first line of smart glasses. The second-generation model boasts significant improvements in terms of technology and design. These glasses feature two ultrawide 12 MP cameras that enable wearers to record high-quality videos and even livestream their experiences on social media platforms like Instagram and Facebook.
These smart glasses are also equipped with advanced AI capabilities, such as real-time object and place identification, as well as instant translations of foreign languages.
Zuckerberg described the smart glasses as the perfect form factor to integrate AI assistants. He believes that these glasses will eventually become a stylish accessory that brings together various functionalities and personas.
