A former firefighter became a new kind of captain and gave others who’ve wondered what it’s like to be a pirate the chance to find out by listing his incredible pirate ship houseboat decked out with cannons and pirate flags – and it will only cost you $49,000.

Daniel Corder, 63, from Virginia, built the ship three years ago as part of his quirky hobby, having previously transformed another old boat.

The firefighter-turned-artist purchased the abandoned boat from his neighbor and gave it a fresh coat of black paint and a new motor before turning it into a pirate ship.

The 44-foot-long black ship comes complete with a spooky crew of skeletons dressed in classic pirate get-ups, cannons mounted on the sides, and the traditional skull and crossbones painted on the body.

Captain Dan wants the right buyer to purchase his beloved boat and someone who will take in all of its spooky glory.

In an interview with the Washingtonian, Dan admitted many of the potential buyers were looking to transform the boat into an Airbnb, which he believes will require a ‘level of due diligence,’ as well as the proper docking in order to maintain it.

He added: ‘I’ve had people that want to buy this thing sight unseen.

One user said: ‘I would totally buy this and drink rum all day.’

‘That boat is understaffed, they’ve only got a skeleton crew,’ another viewer joked.

Someone else said: ‘Would I get this and stand on deck in a giant pirate hat? Yes. Yes I would.’

‘Why would you pay for it, just compile a crew, throw on an eye patch and take it!’ quipped another person.

Another user added: ‘Great for a Halloween party. Not so sure about owning it the other 364 days of the year.’
