Mahindra Achieves Record-Breaking SUV Sales in September 2023
Mahindra and Mahindra, a renowned Indian automotive company, has set a new sales record in September 2023. For the third consecutive month, the company has witnessed its highest sales figures in the SUV segment. In the domestic market alone, Mahindra sold 41,267 vehicles, and including exports, the total stood at 42,260 units. Commercial vehicle sales reached 23,997 units, resulting in an overall sales figure of 75,604 units for the past month.

The exceptional sales performance can be attributed to Mahindra’s diverse SUV lineup, which includes popular models such as XUV300, Bolero, Bolero Neo, Marazzo, XUV400, Thar, Scorpio Classic, Scorpio N, and XUV700. The company experienced a 20% year-on-year growth, with September 2023 recording sales of 41,267 units, compared to 34,262 units in the same month of the previous year.
Year-to-date sales also saw a significant increase of 29%, reaching 214,904 units, compared to 167,052 units in the corresponding period last year. However, sales of cars and vans plummeted by 100% year-on-year, with 0 units sold in September 2023, as opposed to 246 units in September 2022. Similarly, the first six months of the current financial year witnessed a drastic 99% decline in sales, with only 10 units sold, compared to 1,671 units in FY 2023.
In the commercial vehicle segment, Mahindra experienced an 11% year-on-year decline in sales of LCVs weighing less than 2 tons, with September 2023 recording figures of 3,941 units, compared to 4,452 units in September 2022. Year-to-date sales also showed a de-growth of 5%, with 20,629 units sold in FY24, as opposed to 21,608 units in FY23. However, sales of LCVs in the 2-3.5-ton segment witnessed a 15% year-on-year growth, with 18,971 units sold, and a 6% year-to-date growth, with 102,728 units sold.
