The Issue: A man who was freed with no bail after allegedly breaking tables with a hatchet at McDonald’s.

Once again, our fearless leader in Albany is attempting to shift the blame from herself and the Albany Democrats to anyone else for the release of the miscreant who recently rampaged through a Manhattan McDonald’s (“Hatchet man: ‘Not unhinged,’ ” Sept. 20).

She said that the release was due to the prosecutor’s decision to reduce the felony criminal mischief charge to a misdemeanor and to drop the menacing charge altogether.

This is simply not true. Under our bail-reform laws, none of the original charges was bail eligible, and none of the defendant’s acts would support a bail-eligible charge.

Bail reform is the problem. It must be repealed, not merely tweaked. The only way this will happen is if Hochul and the Albany Democrats are voted out of office this November.

According to the governor, the axe man was let out of jail because DA Bragg doesn’t think a man wielding an axe is dangerous, which makes sense to New York’s elite liberals.

I’m glad he didn’t know about the sale on power drills, saws and staple guns at Home Depot.

Gov. Hochul, when will it be time for you to fire Bragg?

Michael Palacios has said he is “not unhinged.”
Kevin C. Downs for The New York Post

Our so-called experts either have no earthly idea how to deal with the crime at hand or they know how to deter crime but lack the spine, integrity, and leadership to say something.

Meanwhile, they have to convince the public they are doing something. It’s called diversionary tactics. Ever heard of speedy justice and punishment?

A hatchet is as deadly as it can be, and should you use it in a restaurant by breaking glass and waving it with anger, you’re going to be walking free the very next day.

The irony is: Michael Palacios, the man who allegedly caused the destruction and swung the hatchet, believed he had every right to his actions. He calls it self-defense. Of course, his reasoning is askew.

Gov. Hochul and Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg need to get some order in this town before someone loses a body part.

The Issue: Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral on Monday following her death at the age of 96 earlier this month.

Monday was a very sad day for the royal family, the people of England and the rest of the world, but what a beautiful sendoff for Queen Elizabeth II (“Godspeed to The Queen,” Sept. 20).

The funeral was perfect — if there is such a thing. Rest in peace.

The final farewell to Queen Elizabeth II was very befitting and also very emotional.

Thousands upon thousands of people lined the entire route of the funeral procession so they could get one final glimpse and pay their respects to their beloved queen.

For 70 years, she reigned with dignity, grace, humility and honesty, and also loved her family very much. She will always be remembered for her witty sense of humor and fondness for her people.

We wish King Charles III and Queen Consort Camilla all of the best as they begin their reign. May they both have strength, patience and understanding.

Prince George and Princess Charlotte were a joy to behold at Queen Elizabeth’s funeral. Their composure and poise were remarkable.

Good job, Catherine and William. They are a real tribute to their loving great-grandmother.
