Kate sports a tracksuit and trainers to meet rugby players in Maidenhead

Today, the Princess of Wales showcased her hands-on approach to early childhood development by arriving at Maidenhead Rugby Club in her sports gear ready to get stuck in. The athletic Princess, wearing a turquoise England rugby t-shirt from Sweaty Betty, navy joggers, and white Lululemon trainers, joined in on drills with ex-England star Danny Care. This visit was part of her work on the Shaping Us campaign, where she discussed how sports clubs can be a support network for children. The Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood also released new data showing an increased awareness of the importance of early years development. While excelling on the pitch, Kate was reminded that during the drills, they were “walking only”, prompting her to apologize. Kate’s love of exercise and activity is well-known, and since 2020, she has been the patron of the Rugby Football Union, taking over from her brother-in-law Prince Harry. Following the successful drills, Kate discussed important matters about how sport can play an important role in shaping the lives of children. A deeply emotional moment occurred when she was introduced to Maidenhead under 14s coach Sarah Renton, whose daughter tragically took her own life at the age of 17. In commemoration, a mother-of-three gifted Kate a pair of star-shaped earrings made in her daughter’s memory from her cousin. Kate emotionally hugged Mrs Renton fiercely, promising to wear them, and stressing the importance of mental health. Despite the trials and tribulations, Kate’s enthusiasm for sport never faltered, and she continued to exude confidence as she trained, showcased her skills, and spread awareness about early childhood development.
