Kate revealed that she and Prince Charles had developed a close relationship at the Prince’s Trust Awards on March 11. This revelation came just before Charles was diagnosed with coronavirus in mid-March. In recounting the events, Kate mentioned that on the 29th or 30th of March, she noticed Derek, her husband, appearing ill with symptoms like a headache, numbness in his right hand, and difficulty breathing. Concerned, she contacted Dr. Hilary Jones and attempted to reach him through a phone call. After speaking to Derek, Dr. Jones advised them to call an ambulance immediately. Consequently, on March 30, Derek, aged 52, was admitted to the hospital and remained unresponsive.
APRIL
In April, Kate and her children isolated themselves at home after she displayed mild COVID-19 symptoms. Throughout the month, Derek remained in intensive care and his condition continued to be a source of great worry. Despite the gravity of the situation, Kate held onto hope as Derek was still alive.
MAY
The month of May brought more challenges as Kate and her family learned of new and devastating ways the virus was affecting Derek. Despite the difficulties, Kate and her family participated in the final clap for carers as a show of support and gratitude. Kate expressed her determination to never give up on Derek, although uncertainty loomed over their future together.

In June, Kate shared the news that although Derek had recovered from the coronavirus, he was still battling the long-term repercussions on his body.
JULY
JULY brought hopeful yet cautious updates. Kate revealed that Derek had emerged from his coma, but his condition remained serious and critical. Urged by doctors to resume her life amidst Derek’s recovery, Kate returned to her role on GMB. She mentioned that Derek had opened his eyes since waking from the coma, but his recovery process could span several years. On July 13, Kate made her first appearance on GMB since Derek’s hospitalization. Later in the month, she expressed her frustration with Derek’s slow progress during her emotionally charged visit.
