Hostages: Pvt. Ori Megidish, a soldier who was abducted on Oct. 7, has been successfully rescued by Israeli forces. A video released by Hamas showed three hostages being held in Gaza. Israel now claims that there are 240 hostages being held in the enclave.
Humanitarian aid: Egypt has expressed its readiness to provide assistance by accommodating a large number of wounded Palestinians from Gaza. In response to pressure regarding the acceptance of Palestinian refugees, Egypt’s prime minister reiterated the country’s commitment to safeguarding its own territory.
U.S.: The FBI is concerned that the Oct. 7 attacks on Israel could potentially incite terrorist activities in the Western world.
Casualties: According to the Hamas-controlled Gaza Health Ministry, the number of fatalities has surpassed 8,000. However, both the U.S. and Israel have questioned the accuracy of these figures, casting doubt on the credibility of Hamas’ reports. Several United Nations experts have suggested that the actual death toll might be even higher. In contrast, in Israel, over 1,400 individuals lost their lives during the attacks that triggered this ongoing conflict, including more than 300 IDF soldiers.
