“Mad” doesn’t even begin to describe the fifth entry into the Mad Max franchise. Warner Bros. has just offered a glimpse into the pandemonium by dropping the first trailer for Furiosa, the eagerly-awaited prequel to the 2015 action favorite Mad Max: Fury Road
The movie will feature Anya Taylor-Joy in the title role, a younger version of the formidable character brought to life by Charlize Theron in the previous installment. Joining her in this high-octane adventure are Chris Hemsworth and Tom Burke, stepping in for Yahya Abdul-Mateen II due to scheduling conflicts.
The preview was exclusively shared with fans at the CCXP fan convention in São Paulo, where Taylor-Joy, Hemsworth, and director George Miller were on hand to hype up the film and offer a sneak peek at what audiences can expect in the new year.
According to the film’s plot synopsis, Furiosa is kidnapped from the Green Place of Many Mothers and becomes a captive of the Warlord Dementus, leader of a savage Biker Horde. The story unfolds against the backdrop of an intense struggle for power in a post-apocalyptic world.
Acting with Intensity
Speaking about the film at CCXP, Taylor-Joy characterized it as “a story of grit, survival, and impossible hope.” Hemsworth, on the other hand, described his character as “a very violent, insane, brutal person that is born from the Wasteland.” He went on to elaborate on Dementus’s personality and his fierce survival instinct.
Reflecting on her experience filming Furiosa, Taylor-Joy mentioned that the process had been a profound and life-changing journey. With a release date scheduled for May 24, audiences can prepare for an electrifying and unforgettable cinematic experience.
