A school in Vyiznoye village in Russia’s Nizhny Novgorod Oblast had an unconventional approach when it invited a former Wagner PMC mercenary with a dark past to speak to local students about his experiences fighting in Ukraine.
According to a report from Nova Gazeta Europe, Alexander Raspravin was imprisoned for six years in 2010 for murdering his own grandfather in a fit of drunken rage when he discovered that he would not inherit his grandfather’s house.

After his release, Raspravin’s freedom was short-lived as he was sentenced to an additional 12 years in 2017 for brutally beating and causing the death of an acquaintance.
Raspravin later joined the ranks of Wagner PMC in late 2022, when the organization’s former leader, Yevgeny Prigozhin, was recruiting from Russian penal colonies.

A forensic report revealed that Raspravin had suffered a head injury in the past, which contributed to the development of “psychopathic traits.”
Despite his violent background, the school administration saw fit for Raspravin to deliver a “patriotic education” lesson to the children, sharing his war stories and even showcasing a grenade launcher.
