Lauren Miller Shares Alarming Health Discovery
Actor and comedian, Lauren Miller, revealed at the University of California, Los Angeles’s (UCLA) Neurosurgery Visionary Ball in Beverly Hills that she had a brain aneurysm. She discovered it after being inspired by the “Hilarity for Charity” nonprofit, which she co-founded with her husband Seth Rogen, to get a full-body MRI.
Miller’s grandmother and mother had dementia. During her speech at the gala, she expressed her desire to “take a deeper look at anything that could possibly be lurking inside me that would affect my longevity.” In 2018, she found the aneurysm.
According to Miller, the aneurysm was initially small but showed sudden growth in the spring of 2022. She sought the expertise of Dr. Geoffrey Colby at UCLA, who answered all her questions. Eventually, Miller chose to have the aneurysm removed.
Miller and Rogen founded the “Hilarity for Charity” in 2011. She previously advised people to know themselves, their numbers, and their genetic risk factors. She also sprinkled humor into her speech.
Miller expressed her gratitude towards Dr. Colby and the entire staff at UCLA for guiding her through the scary experience. She jokingly said she was thankful she wouldn’t be dying at a dinner table anytime soon.
Miller became more serious about brain health after her mother’s Alzheimer’s diagnosis. Rogen also emphasized the need for Alzheimer’s research in his Congressional testimony in 2014. He added humor to his speech as well.
Miller advised people not to be scared to seek information and make lifestyle changes to live a brain-healthy life.
