Exclusive Access: Behind the Scenes with Music Icon Pink on 60 Minutes

This week, 60 Minutes had the pleasure of meeting Pink, the talented artist known for hits like “So What” and “Get the Party Started.” With a world tour that broke attendance records, Pink is a true powerhouse in the music industry.

During the tour’s homecoming stop in Philadelphia, 60 Minutes correspondent Cecilia Vega had the opportunity to experience Pink’s electrifying performance firsthand. According to Vega, a Pink concert is not just a regular concert—it is a mind-blowing spectacle. It combines elements of Broadway, rock music, Cirque du Soleil, and acrobatics, all accompanied by Pink’s remarkable vocals.

One of the most captivating moments of the show is when Pink hangs high above the stage, spinning and contorting herself in silk ropes—all while still singing. And the most astonishing part? There are no safety nets. As Vega revealed, Pink’s background in childhood gymnastics is evident in her gravity-defying performances.

Curious about how Pink trains for these awe-inspiring aerial acts, 60 Minutes traveled to her California home. With the guidance of her aerialist coach Dreya Weber and aerialist partner Khasan Brailsford, Pink practiced her moves on a large metal structure with dangling ropes. It is this dedication to her craft that has led Pink to make a change in her pre-show routine—she no longer drinks before hitting the stage.

Pink graciously invited Vega and the 60 Minutes team backstage after her concert to witness her taking a refreshing plunge in frigid water—a post-show ritual she frequently indulges in. As Pink stepped into the ice-cold bath, enduring the discomfort, Vega inquired about her motivation for doing it. Pink’s response was simple yet profound: “You don’t wake up hurting. You hurt while you’re in it.”

To add an adorable touch to the story, Pink’s 12-year-old daughter, Willow, joined her in the cold bath and even managed to break her mom’s record time. Willow then challenged her dad, motocross star Carey Hart, to take the plunge. However, Hart couldn’t last more than ten seconds in the freezing water, losing to his daughter’s bravery. Vega marvels at how a famous daredevil like Hart couldn’t match up to his daughter’s resilience.
