The highly anticipated update for Halo Infinite will finally include two exciting new features for Ranked play that have been long awaited by players; Rank Demotion Protection and Ranked Quit Penalty Adjustments. Let’s explore the details and delve into how these features will function!
Ranked Demotion Protection: Picture this – you just reached the Platinum tier after a hard-fought battle from Gold. But then, in your following match, things didn’t go as planned, and you found yourself slipping back to Gold. Well, that frustrating experience is now a thing of the past with the addition of Rank Demotion Protection. When you advance to a new division (Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, or Onyx), you’ll receive a grace period of three games, regardless of win or loss, to serve as a safety net so that you won’t be demoted back to the previous division.
Example scenario: You achieve Onyx level with a CSR of 1503. If you encounter a loss, disconnect, or quit – your new CSR will be 1500, ensuring your status in Onyx. This pattern can repeat twice more without affecting your standing.
Winning a game will count towards one of the three protection games – it’s not based on losses, but rather the total number of games played.
Ranked Quit Penalty Adjustments: Ever been in the midst of a game only to have a teammate quit, leaving you with slim chances of winning and potential points loss for quitting yourself? Well, that’s about to change. If someone not on your fireteam quits during the game, they will receive the maximum penalty, but you won’t suffer any CSR loss.
Exciting as this is, questions might arise:
- If someone on the opposing team quits, does that mean I can quit with no penalty? Yes!
- If a member of my fireteam quits, and I follow suit, what’s the penalty? You will incur up to 5 CSR loss, similar to the existing scenario.
- If a non-fireteam member quits, and our team ends up losing, how much CSR will I lose? 0 CSR. Ranked games are designed to be played with balanced teams, allowing players to exit without facing penalties and simply search for another match.
- What if a teammate quits or crashes while loading in? The first quit after the match begins will still receive a full penalty, but subsequent quits will be penalty-free for all players.
- If someone in my game quits, and I choose to leave without penalty, will I still be banned? No. Quitting under these circumstances is exempt from the banhammer.
RANKED EXTRACTION UPDATES
In response to player feedback, we’ve implemented some crucial updates to Ranked Extraction (please note that these updates will not be visible in the Extraction feature of social playlists).
Audio changes: Previously, the audio cue for the conversion of your Extraction point could be heard anywhere on the map, allowing players to move away and only return when needed. With the upcoming audio adjustment, the device itself will emit the sound, requiring teams to maintain closer proximity and vigilance over the Extraction device.
UI changes: Presently, players can observe the conversion of the Extraction point in their UI, enabling similar tactics of leaving and returning as per audio cues. This will substantially change with the upcoming update, as the UI will no longer provide indications for active conversion or remaining time. This change will encourage a more traditional and challenging approach, where timing the Extractions becomes pivotal, akin to managing weapons/powerups in older Halo titles.
These quality-of-life updates are intended to elevate your ranked experience and we wish you the best of luck on your journey to the top.
