Police have been notified by a former partner of a well-known athlete of a possible criminal conspiracy that involved the victim being drugged on multiple occasions. The accuser’s legal representatives have submitted a comprehensive statement to authorities this week alleging that the famous athlete attempted to spike their client’s drink. According to reports, the unnamed athlete is believed to have been in cahoots with two accomplices in this wider scheme. Although the alleged victim was reportedly unaware of the incident when it occurred, they were subsequently informed by a third party of what had occurred. It is claimed that the athlete aimed to get their ex-partner under their control by administering a substance that would render them susceptible to suggestion. The accused and two accomplices are believed to have eventually succeeded in spiking the victim, despite facing initial difficulties in doing so. In another instance, when the victim woke up, they discovered that phone correspondence with the accused had been erased. Telegraph Sport has contacted both the athlete and their agent for comment, but no response has emerged. The alleged incident, which is said to date back at least five years, was only reported to police this week and so the athlete has not yet been questioned about the allegations. The police department handling the victim’s report refused to provide a statement, citing concerns over media identification of either the accused or the accuser. The possible offence is being examined under section one of the Criminal Law Act 1977.
