Elon Musk Slams AOC’s Comments on the Migrant Crisis, Calls Her Intelligence into Question

Elon Musk reignited his long-running feud with Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, making headlines once again. This time, he called her “not that smart” in response to her recent claim that New York City’s migrant crisis is not as significant as the influx of immigrants through Ellis Island in the past. Ocasio-Cortez, a progressive lawmaker, shared a video on her Instagram account asserting that the number of immigrants passing through Ellis Island between 1892 and 1954 far surpassed the current immigration numbers. However, her attempt to downplay the current crisis received significant backlash on social media, with critics pointing out the differences between legal immigration and undocumented migrants pouring through the border. Conservative commentator Ashley St. Clair expressed her disagreement, stating that comparing the two is an example of “girl math.” Following this, Musk replied to St. Clair’s post with a succinct comment: “She’s just not that smart.” While Rep. Ocasio-Cortez has not responded to Musk’s remarks so far, this is not the first time the Tesla CEO has engaged in social media banter with her. Last year, when Ocasio-Cortez tweeted about a “billionaire with an ego problem,” Musk humorously replied, “Stop hitting on me, I’m really shy.” Ocasio-Cortez, however, quickly clarified that she was referring to Mark Zuckerberg. The Tesla boss has a history of trolling Ocasio-Cortez in this manner.

Currently, New York City is grappling with a significant migrant crisis. Since April of last year, over 116,000 undocumented migrants who crossed the border from Mexico and sought asylum in the US have arrived in the city. These individuals have been accommodated in the city’s shelter system and local hotels. Mayor Eric Adams predicts that his administration may need to spend around $12 billion over the next three years to provide food and shelter for the migrants. Additionally, they face a lengthy wait for work permits. Ocasio-Cortez has attributed part of the blame for the crisis to US sanctions against Venezuela, authored by Republican Senator Marco Rubio. She believes that these sanctions played a role in driving populations to the southern border. However, she later acknowledged that Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro is also responsible for the increasing influx of migrants.

The ongoing feud between Elon Musk and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez continues to captivate the public. In their social media interactions, Musk’s comments have often sparked controversy and further debate on pressing issues like immigration and sanctions. As both influential figures in their respective fields, their exchanges serve as a reflection of the complex dynamics between business and politics in modern society.
