An elderly man was left critically injured after a fire in Riverside, officials said Saturday.
The fire was reported around 9:55 p.m. Friday at 4064 Lively St., according to the Riverside Fire Department.
The RFD said bystanders reported that an elderly man lived in the residence alone. Firefighters conducted a search while attacking the fire, and the man was found lying on the ground just outside a back door. He had critical burn injuries and was moved to the front of the home and evaluated by paramedics, then taken to a local burn unit by ambulance. His condition was not immediately available Saturday.
Firefighters extinguished the fire in about 20 minutes.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
