Fresh off her appearance in Greta Gerwig’s blockbuster Barbie film, Dua Lipa continues to explore the world of film with an enticing new trailer for the upcoming spy thriller Argylle.
Released on Thursday (Sept. 28), the captivating trailer features a blond-haired Lipa confidently approaching Henry Cavill, who portrays Agent Argylle, as she provocatively asks, “I certainly hope you dance as well as you dress.” The two then engage in a mesmerizing tango that escalates into a suspenseful standoff. The trailer offers a brief glimpse into the film’s plot: An author named Bryce Dallas Howard finds her life upended when her immensely successful spy novels start resembling missions carried out by a covert syndicate of international spies with conflicting intentions towards her – some aiming to kidnap her, some wanting to eliminate her – or perhaps both.
Argylle is scheduled for release on Feb. 2, 2024, and boasts an ensemble cast consisting of John Cena, Sam Rockwell, Bryan Cranston, Catherine O’Hara, Ariana DeBose, and Samuel L. Jackson. It is helmed by director Matthew Vaughn and produced by Apple Studios and Marv Studios.
Earlier this year, Lipa and Cena delighted audiences as Mermaid Barbie and Kenmaid, respectively, in the highly successful Barbie film. Lipa contributed the chart-topping song “Dance the Night” to the movie’s soundtrack, which peaked at No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100.
