Tata Nexon Facelift: Unveiling Tata’s Most Popular Car

Tata Motors has unveiled the facelift version of its most popular car, the Nexon. The company has updated the exterior and interior design of the sub-4 meter SUV. Along with this, new advanced comfort and safety features have been added to the car. Booking of the new Nexon will start from 4 September, with reports suggesting that it may be launched during this festive season. In India, the car will compete with the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV300, and Kia Sonet.

A Sportier Design

Talking about design, the front and rear look of the new Nexon have been completely changed. It now sports a sleeker and more athletic appearance. The front features new LED DRLs with a split headlamp setup. Below them, LED headlamps have been installed on a completely revamped and sporty-looking bumper. The side remains mostly unchanged, except for the addition of funky 16-inch diamond cut dual-tone alloy wheels. At the rear, the Nexon boasts full connected LED tail lights, which the company calls ‘X factor tail lamps’. Welcome and goodbye function is also available.

Additionally, the car comes in new exciting colors: Fearless Purple, Creative Ocean, Pure Grey, Flame Red, Daytona Grey, and Pristine White.

A Luxurious Interior

The biggest change inside the cabin is the introduction of a flat-bottom steering wheel, a first in the Indian auto industry. The dashboard features a touch panel HVAC unit, adding to the car’s luxury appeal. The center console now includes a new gear selector. Furthermore, the Tata Nexon facelift comes with a new 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster.

Advanced Features for Comfort and Safety

The new Nexon is equipped with numerous advanced features. These include Tata’s IRA 2.0 mobile connected technology, a voice-assisted electric sunroof, a JBL 9-speaker sound system, a wireless charger, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a first-in-segment navigation display on the instrument cluster.

In terms of safety, the Nexon now offers new features such as a 360-degree camera, front and rear parking sensors, a first-category blind-view monitor, ESP, 6 airbags, hill-hold control, rollover mitigation, traction control, ISOFIX child anchor seats, and TPMS.

Unchanged Performance

The car’s performance remains unchanged. It retains the same 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, generating 118 hp. Additionally, there is an option of a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder diesel engine, producing 113 hp. The petrol engine is offered with four different transmission options depending on the variant: 5-speed MT, 6-speed MT, 6-speed AMT, and a new 7-speed DCT. The diesel engine comes with the option of 6MT and 6AMT gearboxes.
