Despite Unemployment Fears and Recession, Workers Are Still Pursuing Career Changes – Orange County Register

Bankrate’s job seeker survey revealed that although one-third of employed Americans are worried about job security, they are also the most likely to take career actions, such as negotiating for more flexibility, asking for a raise, or searching for a new job. The survey found that 88% of workers concerned about job security are likely to take some career action within the next 12 months. In contrast, only 67% of those who have no concerns will do the same. The fears of these workers have been fueled by reports of a recession, which is yet to materialize. Nevertheless, the job market remains resilient, while workers still possess considerable bargaining power, fueling their desire to take career action. Despite the current uncertainty, workers are making the most of the strong job market while it lasts, taking advantage of the over 10.1 million job openings available.
